news: Summer Interns!

Welcome to the ITP team Beth, Sirin and Alex!

We have three new placement students working with us this summer, in collaboration with Nottingham University. This is a great chance to help local university students get a flavour for what a career in transport might entail, and gain an insight into the transport infrastructure and planning happening regionally and beyond.

Beth, who has just finished her second year of university, is currently researching bus service websites - looking at the customer journey planning experience, countywide bus provision, and identifying areas for improvement on bus operator's websites.

Sirin has just completed her first year of studying Geography and is collating research on tourist bus services and Park and Ride schemes in National Parks and coastal areas.

Alex, who is on a shorter three-week placement, is currently collaborating on reports for parking guidance strategy and masterplanning projects - working to provide sustainable travel options for a new garden city development.

Transport planning covers a wide range of topics and sub-disciplines and yet isn't that well known about as a career path, so this is a great opportunity for our interns to try it out and see if it's for them. Career exploration and development is a theme which continues for graduates on our SUNRISE scheme where those in the early years of their career rotate sector placements to develop their skills and expose them to a wide range of topics.
