Bike Stand In Oerol

news: Changing travel behaviour in Nottinghamshire

In 2017 Nottinghamshire County Council secured funding from the Department for Transport to deliver a behavioural change programme, called ‘Travel Choice’, in Mansfield and Newark.  It followed a successful Access Fund bid prepared by ITP in partnership with the Council.

The project aims to encourage more school leavers, jobseekers, businesses and commuters to reach employment opportunities sustainably by increasing levels of cycling and walking. The travel behaviour change interventions will build on planned capital investments secured through the Local Growth Fund (LGF) to improve the local cycling networks in both Mansfield and Newark.

After a year of planning and preparation the project launched in April 2018. ITP is working in close partnership with colleagues at Nottinghamshire County Council and AECOM to deliver the project over the next two years. This commission continues to build ITP's portfolio of behavioural change programmes and follows on from the success of the award-winning Lowestoft Local Links and Derby Connected projects.
