news: Masterplanning in the north of Newark-on-Trent

ITP is working with David Lock Associates, William Saunders and KDK Archaeology to produce a first stage masterplan for an area to the north of Newark-on-Trent.  Located immediately to the north of the town centre and Newark Castle station; Newark and Sherwood District Council has sought our team’s advice on the transport implications of possible alternative land-uses and regeneration opportunities.

We are working with local stakeholders to understand access and movement considerations and the potential for promoting walking, cycling and public transport use in the local area.  Investment that could be unlocked through the masterplan brings with it opportunities for improving links between the area and the town’s two rail stations, the town centre and bus station, and new employment sites and residential areas.

Such changes could be transformational – contributing long-term positive benefits for the local environment by reducing the dominance of private cars and freight vehicles, and helping to further improve the attractiveness of the town’s Castle grounds and riverside area. The project is scheduled to conclude in late Spring 2018.
