news: ITP turns 20

Twenty years ago we were the ‘new kids on the block’! Founded by Colin Brader in 1998, ITP sought to positively influence the design of places and the way we travel by aligning the disciplines of transport and land-use planning. Fast-forward two decades and we are proud to reflect on a history of successful and impactful projects, counting a large number of clients and collaborators among our friends. The ITP of 2018 is an established, award-winning consultancy that is recognised across the industry for its quality, insight and original thought.

ITP’s Founder and Chairman Colin Brader reflected:

“When I first set up ITP I was driven by the belief there is room in a commercial world for transport consultants that want to make a real difference to the way we travel. It brings me great pleasure to continue challenging our staff to engage headlong with the issues facing society and mobility in the 21st Century, to question conventional wisdom, and to make their voices heard.  The diverse and interesting company that now exists is testament to our collective sense of adventure, curiosity, and dedication.”

During the last 20 years ITP has been fortunate to get involved in a number of pioneering sustainable transport projects.  Domestically these have ranged from developing best practice guidance on Personalised Travel Planning for the Department for Transport, to advising TfL and Westminster City Council on accessibility and inclusive design considerations for the proposed Oxford Street Transformation.  Internationally, ITP has spearheaded the localisation and delivery of Bus Rapid Transit in Africa and South East Asia, while also developing strategies for enhancing public transport networks in Eastern Europe, South Asia, and Central America.

Managing Director, Jon Parker, added:

“Having developed organically over the 20 years since I joined Colin, the momentum behind ITP currently feels as strong as ever.  With a team of thirty-five transport professionals spread across five UK offices we continue to grow, and have certainly come a long way from a humble basement office".

Today we celebrated our 'official' birthday, but look out for a series of activities and events that ITP is planning through the course of its 20th anniversary year at www.itpworld.net.
