news: ITP helps Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Transport secure £15.2 million

ITP is delighted to have supported Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Transport (NCT) in securing £15.2 million from the Department for Transport to introduce 78 new, state of the art battery electric buses in the city.

The funding has been secured through the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) scheme which is helping local authorities and bus operators work towards the UK government’s pledge to deliver 4,000 zero emission buses across the country. ITP’s team helped prepare the business case submission, using the Greener Buses Model to illustrate different Value for Money scenarios resulting from the investment.

The new vehicles will deliver significant reductions in emissions (representing an estimated 3,800 tonnes CO2e per annum saving) relative to the current fleet of EURO VI diesel vehicles operating within the city. They build on the environmentally friendly bio-gas buses launched by the operator in 2017. NCT aims to operate a fully Zero Emission and Biogas fleet by 2028, supporting the aspirations of the City Council to be the UK’s first carbon neutral city by the same date.
