Life at ITP
ITP is a dynamic consultancy specialising in sustainable transport planning. In recent years we have been involved in many pioneering initiatives and have worked with the Department for Transport, the Commission for Integrated Transport, and TfL, as well as many regional assemblies and agencies, local authorities, public transport executives, and major private sector companies. We work on a wide range of international projects, some funded through the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, others through governments in the countries we are working. Over the past five years we have confirmed our position as one of the leading experts on BRT, and making this a very exciting time for ITP.
We offer an inclusive, flexible and sociable working environment in which all staff contribute to decisions on how the company evolves. We have regular team meetings, but also take time out to discuss business strategy during days away from the office. We sometimes combine these strategy discussions with a study tour. For example, in previous years we have visited Amsterdam, Stockholm and Barcelona and taken the opportunity to experience the Zuidtangent busway, to meet with car club officials at the City of Stockholm, and to try out the free bike scheme in Barcelona. At each of these we’ve had a day-long session on business strategy to which everybody contributed.
In addition to team meetings, each member of staff is assigned a mentor to provide the opportunity for discussing issues on a one-to-one basis, and we undertake annual appraisals to provide regular monitoring of achievements and progress against aspirations. We encourage staff to attend courses, seminars and conferences to further their knowledge, understanding and skills, and to actively participate in professional institutions.
We have three offices in the UK, based in Milton Keynes (where we share offices with our sister company David Lock Associates), Nottingham and Birmingham although our work takes us all over the UK and around the world. We have a company Travel Plan and encourage our staff to travel sustainably to work. Each of our offices is within easy reach of public transport, shops and services.
We pride ourselves on being a first class employer, and recognise that people have different lifestyles and needs. We operate flexible leave and pension schemes, offer flexible working arrangements including opportunities to work from home, and a charity leave scheme to provide the opportunity for staff to participate in charity activities or community work
