Life at ITP

ITP is a dynamic consultancy specialising in sustainable transport planning. In recent years we have been involved in many pioneering initiatives and have worked with the Department for Transport, the Commission for Integrated Transport, and TfL, as well as many regional assemblies and agencies, local authorities, public transport executives, and major private sector companies. We have recently completed a World Bank funded Bus Rapid Transit Feasibility Study for Lagos, Nigeria, confirming our position as one of the leading experts on BRT, and making this a very exciting time for ITP.

We offer an inclusive, flexible and sociable working environment in which all staff contribute to decisions on how the company should evolve. We have regular team meetings, but also take time out to discuss business strategy during days away from the office. We sometimes combine these strategy discussions with a study tour. For example, in previous years we visited Amsterdam and Stockholm and taken the opportunity to experience the Zuidtangent busway, to meet with car club officials at the City of Stockholm, and to have a day-long session on business strategy to which everybody contributed.

In addition to team meetings, each member of staff is assigned a mentor to provide the opportunity for discussing issues on a one-to-one basis, and we also undertake annual appraisals to provide regular monitoring of achievements and progress against aspirations. We encourage staff to attend courses, seminars and conferences to further their knowledge, understanding and skills, and to actively participate in professional institutions.

In Milton Keynes , we share offices with our sister company David Lock Associates, with whom we work on many varied and interesting projects. We benefit enormously from this arrangement, with access to technology and support services, as well as many social activities, including dragon boat racing, go-karting, and discounted theatre tickets. Milton Keynes offers an excellent living environment, which is particularly suited to families and young people. The range of services and leisure activities is extensive; we are home to the country’s most popular theatre, year round ski-ing is available, there is first class shopping, an excellent choice of newly built schools and immediate access to very attractive open space. We are a 35 minute train journey from Central London, and easy access to Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, the Cotswolds, Peak District and East Anglia is available.

We pride ourselves on being a first class employer, and recognise that people have different lifestyles and needs. We operate flexible leave and pension schemes, offer flexible working arrangements including opportunities to work from home, and a charity leave scheme to provide the opportunity for staff to participate in charity activities or community work.
